This podcast was recorded for Roofing & Siding Smiths.
I wanted to talk today a little bit about roofing and siding. Roofing and Siding Smiths, your roofer Greenville Texas, and the process that will happen once you’ve signed up to have your roof replaced with Roofing and Siding Smiths, your roofing contractor in Greenville, Texas. First we’re going to set a scheduled time to come out and do the install. We’re going to organize having the materials delivered. They a crew scheduled to come in install and we’re going to do our best to be in touch with you throughout this process at roofing and siding Smiths, your roofer Greenville Texas. We strive to keep you in the know throughout the entire process. So after you sign a contract, we’re going to go back to our office at Roofing and Siding Smiths and we’re going to make sure any other members of the team, including the project manager who will take control of your project to ensure the utmost and quality and care will be taken, will be briefed on the project.
Um, as your roofing contractor, Greenville, Texas, we will then order the materials. We will organize a delivery date, will ensure that the distributor has been informed of where to place the materials. And then we’ll let you know as the homeowner, uh, what day the materials will arrive on your property. We usually have a three or four hour window or possibly just the day because sometimes the delivery companies get hung up or something outside of our control. But the main thing is just that you leave, um, some space to where we can set the material down as close to the house as possible, but without getting on the grass so that we don’t damage, the yard. Once you’ve been informed of the delivery date, we then will, um, set up to have the crew typically start one day after the delivery as your roofer Greenville Texas. We know that trying to have the delivery and the crew all start the same day has resulted in conflict that we want to avoid. What we want to ensure is that the materials will show up. We’ll send the project manager by the day the materials arrive. He will do a count to make sure that we have all, all the things necessary to complete your project the following day.
And then we’ll call you and let you know that the crew is coming the next day. If something happens and they get held up and it’s going to be two days, we’ll inform you of that. Most of the time our roofing crews start no later than 8:00 AM and if it’s really going to be hot that day, they may start as early as six or six 30. The reason we do that when it’s extremely hot is because, um, after it’s about 95 degrees, we have to be very careful when we’re walking around and working on the shingles because they become soft and we don’t want to damage your brand new roof. So the next step in the process is the day of the install. Um, as your roofing contractor, Greenville, Texas, we will arrive to the project. Um, we’ll bring a dumpster or possibly a dump trailer and hopefully we can keep it on the driveway is close to the house as possible.
And because our goal is to take the shingles directly from the house and put them into the dumpster so that we have less opportunity to damage flower beds, decorations, less nails and debris in your yard, but there’s always going to be a little bit that falls off the roof. And so we’re also going to spread tarps out if you have gutters that are not being replaced. We have a special system that we will install in various places around the roof to try to keep the shingles from um, laying on or scuffing the gutters, which will protect your home. It will also protect the integrity of the hangers that the gutters have been installed with. Um, here at Roofing and Siding Smiths, your roofer Greenville Texas. We’re actually an in house, same lesson gutter contractor as well. We’ve been installing seamless gutters for over 10 years and we know the ins and outs of that as well. So it’s a great combo and we know how to take care of your gutters and what needs to be done to protect you and keep them running smoothly and efficiently. We’ll also make sure that at the end of the project that your gutters are clean and free of debris as your roofing contractor, Greenville, Texas. Here at roofing and siding Smiths, we really care about cleanliness, cleanliness and quality and protecting your home. So now that the tarps had been spread out and the trailer has been placed, the crew members will start to remove the shingles.
We will remove all of the shingles. We will pull nails or hammer them down. That way we have a flat surface to work on. We’ll then use a blower or a broom to clean off the roof. This also ensures us that any missed loose nails or anything have been removed because the next step is install the underline it also known as felt at Roofing and Siding Smiths, your roofer Greenville Texas. We believe that synthetic felt is a much better product than the old asphalt based felt product. There’s multiple reasons for this. Some of the top reasons are that it’s more durable, which also means it’s more safe for our contractors. It’s less likely to rip, which means that the integrity of your product stays intact as well as it keeps our guys from slipping. Synthetic underlayment can also be left exposed on a roof for up to two months keeping, your home protected in the case of new construction or um, needing to leave it overnight at Roofing and Siding Smiths as your roofing contractor, Greenville, Texas.
We try to do one roof a day but sometimes it takes two. The reason we want to do this is that we want to ensure to the best of our ability that your roof is not exposed to rain or the elements causing more problems than necessary after the synthetic felt has been placed. We want install, um, starter shingles. Um, we really like to use starter shingles because that are designed to be on the edge of the roof. Some contractors you used to just take shingles and turn around backwards. The problem is then you don’t have a tar strip that’s low and at the bottom of the shingle will do to the way they’re designed. Starter shingles actually are designed to be used on the first row and they adhere to the bottom of the first shingle, helping to keep that first row from flapping in the wind.
After that starts the process of the shingle installation, the guys will install your shingles, then I will install the hip and Ridge and they will uh, finish up by installing the top caps of any wind turbines or gas vents and seal, any exposed nails, um, on those vents clean up. We, will also run a magnet around your property four or five times to pick up any of those nails that did happen to fall off of the roof. Once that process is done, the project manager will walk the property to ensure quality and, we’ll make sure that you have been made aware of what’s happened, where we’re at. And um, if you have insurance, we will then, um, work with you to help you send the final invoice in case there’s any money that had been held back. And as we go from there, um, again, our top priority is quality and service. And so the project managers are gonna come back another day. He’s going to sweep the yard with a magnet again, and we’re going to be checking to make sure that the next time it rains, you don’t have any possible leaks. We hope there’s not any, but if there is, you can rest assured that we will answer our phone and we will take care of your issue very quickly.
